To provide: a novel umami-taste improver that has an excellent umami-taste improvement effect for milk-containing food/drink; a milk-containing food/drink composition whose umami-taste is improved by said umami-taste improver; and a method for improving umami-taste of milk-containing food/drink composition.SOLUTION: The milk-containing food/drink composition of the present invention has a protein content of 0.01 to 15 wt (%) and contains one or more component selected from the group consisting of: a sugar carboxylic acid whose aldehyde group at reduction terminal side of a starch decomposition product or transfer reaction product having a polymerization degree of 2 or more is oxidized; a salt thereof; and a lactone thereof.SELECTED DRAWING: None
