PURPOSE: To manufacture a lens with a high refractive index and change the abrasion resistance, weather resistance and grindability in accordance with the blending ratio of a three-dimensional polymer by introducing an M-O bond chain into the polymer.
CONSTITUTION: A three-dimensional polymer is manufactured by using starting material selected from Ti, Zr, Pb, Ta, La, Cu, Zn, Sn, Cr and Tl and adding halogen except F, and a bond chain represented by formula I or II is introduced into the polymer to obtain a highly refractive lens with ≥1.65nD refractive index. For example, a Ti-contg. methacrylate monomer is synthesized from tetra-n-butoxy titanium and methacrylic acid ester as starting materials, and the monomer is mixed with diallyl phthalate in 1:1 wt. ratio. After adding 0.3wt% diisopropyl peroxycarbonate as a polymn. initiator, the monomer mixture is injected into hollow part 4 of glass mold 2, 2' set on the top and bottom of gasket 1, and it is polymerized at 60°C for 5hr. Thus, a three-dimensional polymer is obtd. by the reaction of formula III (where R is C4H9), and the polymer has properties such as 1.634nD and 34 Abbe's number enough for lenses for glasses.
