To obtain a material suited for producing a building material of a shaped article by using a melt blend of a thermoplastic material with a rubber material.
Desirably, the rubber material and the thermoplastic material are bonded to each other under the influence of mechanical force and/or heat and/or pressure and/or radiation so as to form a product or an article. The thermoplastic material and the rubber material are mixed, and the mixture is heated to form a melt blend, which is molded into any desired shape. Each starting material in a granular form is mechanically mixed and is extruded into a desired shape, for example, a sheet. The rubber starting material used is desirably a coarse rubber powder, and the starting material for the thermoplastic components is particularly polyethylene and, in addition, is exemplified by a polypropylene, a thermoplastic polyurethane, or a polyvinyl compound. If necessary, the material may contain additives, a filler, and polystyrene granules being a cellular material.
