To provide a metal removal material constituted of a fiber substance with less elusion substance capable of passing treatment water per unit volume of metal removal material at high speed, removing the metal at high efficiency and being repeatedly used.
The metal removal material is characterized in that it is formed by introducing a functional group having ion exchange ability relative to a metal cation or chelate exchange ability to the fiber material comprising a polyethylene based short fiber having a fiber diameter of 2 deniers by a graft polymerization process. A filter product including it is provided. The functional function group having the ion exchange ability is a sulfonic acid group, a carboxylic acid group or a combination thereof and the functional group having the chelate-forming ability is an imino-diacetic acid group, an ethylenediaminetriacetic acid group, an imino-diethanol group or a combination thereof.
