Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a material retaining damper permitting the passage of waste gas, preheating and heating evenly material retained in the damper to a high temperature, in a preheating tower established in a smelting furnace.
CONSTITUTION: In a cylindrical preheating tower established in a smelting furnace provided with a material throwing port at the top of the same so as to be covered by a lid and provided with the proper number of preheating chambers from the lower part toward the upper part thereof, a pair of material retaining dampers 14, 15 are attached to the preheating tower so as to have a gap to permit the passage of waste gas from the smelting furnace upwardly under a condition that the pair of material retaining dampers 14, 15, which are attached openably to the lower part of respective preheating chambers and retaining material, are closed. The material retaining dampers 14, 15 are pillars having fan-shaped side sections while slits A are provided on the dampers 14, 15.
