To provide a material for a wood deck characterized in that its heat insulating properties are high and it safe and comfortable use are ensured without the possibilities that it might hurt a foot sole and further, it is water- resistant and withstands a long-term use and is almost free from a slippage problem by bonding a natural cork material to the upper face of a wood.
The bark of a cork oak is sliced into a sheet-shaped natural cork material 2, which is, in turn, attached to the upper face of a wood 1 using an adhesive. The adhesive is made of a water-resistant epoxy resin or the like and the natural cork material 2 is cut to the desired size and shape such as a short paper strip or a square. In addition, the natural cork material 2 is chamfered and further, when the cuticle of the natural cork material 2 is used, the surface is polished to remove an inharmonious touch of irregularities and at the same time, the surface is spotted to show a presentable appearance pattern as a formed product. Thus, it is possible to manufacture the material for a wood deck which keeps warmth in winter and reflects no heat in summer and further imparts a comfortable touch with elasticity without fear about picking up a thorn and other advantages such as withstanding a long term use and being hardly slippery for a pedestrian.
