Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make a high-degree gradational display and to enable industrially easy manufacture by composing a display dot of display picture elements differing in light emission area in stages without making the line width of electrodes specially small. CONSTITUTION:Signal electrodes 6a-6e have line widths at a 1:1/2:1/2:1/4:1/4 ratio and cross scanning electrodes 3 to constitute display picture elements 10a-10e. Therefore, the electrode intersection area ratio of the display picture elements 10a-10e is 1:1/2:1/2:1/4:1/4. The display picture elements 10a-10e are put in one group to constitute one display dot. Namely, one display dot 32 makes a 32-gradational display according to ON/OFF combinations of electric power to the display picture elements 10a-10e. The least line width is 1/4 as large as a reference line width and large enough for industrial manufacture.
