To restrain matting cut off halfway from being deformed by its own weight so as to guarantee correct cutting by providing a lateral frame, disposed in a cutting direction, with keep link mechanism including keep levers in a cutting device of such constitution that a cutter fitted to a slider travels in the cutting direction.
Matting 9 put in a receiving basket is pulled out while cutting the whisker parts of the matting 9 by a whisker cutting device 40. When the length of the matting 9 measured by an encoder 5 reaches the specified length, a main motor 24 is stopped, and a cutting motor 31 of a cutting device 3 is actuated to make a cutter 33 on a slider travel along a cutter guide rail 32 through a sprocket 36 and a chain 35, thus cutting the matting 9 by the cutter 33. During this cutting, the engagement between the slider and a left end part 43L of a link bar 43 comes off, and rollers 47 at the lower ends of keep levers 46 come in contact with the matting 9 to press the matting 9 onto a base 48, thus preventing the dislocation of an already cut part.
