Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: In rolling operation, to supply a meandering control technology by which drawing caused by meandering motion of a sheet that happens to take place when the sheet passes through a rolling mill can be prevented.
SOLUTION: In tandem rolling mill with at least three stands, in order to prevent meandering of the tail end portion of a work to be rolled in the period until the tail end of the work passes through the number i stand after it passed through the number i-1 stand, meandering control of the tandem rolling mill in performing reduction leveling control is conducted in such a manner that the non-action time defined as such that leveling control of rolling reduction at the number i stand is not initiated after the tail end of the work went out of the number i-1 stand, is worked out and set into, in advance, based on the sheet thickness of the work at entry side of the finish stand, the distance between stands or pass route length of the work between stands, the thickness and velocity of the sheet at the entry side of the number i stand, the reduction leveling control at the number i stand is initiated and thus meandering control of the tandem rolling mill is conducted.
