Abstract:

PURPOSE: To save the time and labor needed for measurement of the coefficient of correlation and eliminate the need for regulation, by a method wherein the outputs obtained by squaring and averaging the sum signal and the difference signal of the first and second input signals respectively and the outputs obtained by squaring and averaging the first and second input signals respectively are led to a microcomputer for calculation.

CONSTITUTION: Input signals x(t) and y(t) are added together in an adder 1 as well as subtracted one from the other by a subtracting unit 2. The sum signal from the adder 1 passes through a squaring circuit 3 and an averaging circuit 7 before becoming an output E, while the difference signal from the subtracting unit 2 passes through a squaring circuit 4 and an averaging circuit 8 before becoming an output F. Moreover, the input signals x(t) and y(t) pass through a squaring circuit 6 and an averaging circuit 10 and through a squaring circuit 5 and an averaging circuit 9 to become outputs C and D respectively. These outputs C, D, E and F are inputted to a microcomputer 11, where an operation expressed by a formula, the square root of 0.25(E-F)/(C.D), is carried out. Thereby, the coefficient of correlation between both input signals is outputted from the computer 11.
