PURPOSE: To perform highly accurate measurement, by memorizing the amount of error caused by the contact direction of a detector in advance, and correcting the error caused by the directivity of the detector based on the memory.
CONSTITUTION: The amount of error caused by the contact direction of a detector 17 is stored in a correcting table in a control device 19 in advance. When the detector 17 is moved by the command from an NC device 14, the moving direction of the detector 17 is stored in a direction register in the control device 19. When the detected signal is outputted from the detector 17 by the contact with a work W, the amount of the error, which is stored in the direction register and corresponds to the moving direction, is read out of the correcting table. Then, the position data Dx and Dy of the detector 17 when the detected signal is outputted are corrected by the amount of the error.
