PURPOSE: To accurately measure the running data of running toys by a lightweight and compact device by arranging so that the toy runs between light emitting and photodetecting elements of two gates to turn a time counter on and off.

CONSTITUTION: When the toy 6 runs on a rail 4 in a first gate part 1 to intercept the light from the light emitting element 11a, the photodetecting element 12a is turned off so that the time counter 3 on the upper surface of the gate 1 starts counting. As the toy 6 proceeds and enters the second gate 2, it intercepts the light from a light emitting element 11b to turn a photodetecting element 12b off. Thus the counter 3 stops counting and displays the running time of the toy 6 on a display part 13 of the counter 3. Therefore, the running data of the running toy can be accurately measured by the lightweight and compact device.
