To provide a method, in which the displacement or the movement of the furnace wall of a coke-oven carbonization chamber during its operation (during discharging of coke from a furnace or during carbonization of coal) is measured readily and with high accuracy by an operation from the upper part of the furnace, using a method where a carbonization chamber adjacent to the carbonization chamber to be measured is formed as an empty chamber and the displacement of the furnace wall of the empty chamber is measured, and to provide an apparatus for the method.
In the method, the displacement of the furnace wall of the carbonization chamber during the discharging of the coke from the furnace or during the carbonization of the coal is measured. The adjacent carbonization chamber (2), which is adjacent to the carbonization chamber (1) to be measured as the carbonization chamber during its operation, is formed as the empty chamber. The displacement of the furnace wall (4Y) on the side of the carbonization chamber (1) to be measured of the adjacent carbonization chamber (2) is measured optically or by a direct contact means. Thereby, the displacement of the furnace wall (4X) of the carbonization chamber (1) to be measured is found.
