Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve measurement accuracy by receiving a reflected wave of a sent ultrasonic wave, arraying linear graphic forms which have brightness distributions corresponding to time variation in the amplitude of the reflected wave in order, and detecting the length in the linear graphic form direction of a display clear part. CONSTITUTION:A vibrator 71 receives reflected waves from respective parts of the course of the ultrasonic wave 5 from right after it begins to send the ultrasonic wave 5, so a brightness modulated signal 15a outputted by a receiving circuit is inputted to a CRT. Consequently, a spot which moves on the display screen 18a of the CRT has a brightness distribution corresponding to the signal 15a and forms a linear graphic form 20 moving vertically on the display screen 18a. Then the length from the top end of a striped graphic form 21 formed by arraying linear graphic forms 20 in order to a lateral graphic form 22, i.e. the up-down length of the display clear part 21a is compared with that when scale 6 is not produced in a tube 2 to measure the thickness of the scale 6.
