PURPOSE: To reduce installation costs and to eliminate a post processing equipment by providing a pre-processing mill to crush oxide scales and a grinding roll in the same line.
CONSTITUTION: An oxide scale 8 is reduced in thickness thereof and generates cracks through a pre-processing mill 2, and at the same time is crushed into small fragments and powder by the indentations of a dull roll 6. In a descaling device 3, a water washer 9 impinges water jets on the front surface 13 and rear surface 14 of a hot rolled plate and on grinding rolls 10 and 10. Scale fragments and powder separated from and remaining on the base material are washed out and at the same time clogging on grinding roll 10 and 10 is removed to recover grinding functions of rolls 10 and 10 and also to prevent dispersions of ground scales.
