Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the driveability of a mechanical supercharger with a clutch by masking clutch engaging shocks.
SOLUTION: Step 5 serves to detect a kickdown or a downshift in an automatic transmission caused by a sudden increase in the throttle opening angle. At a kickdown, Step 7 engages the clutch of a mechanical supercharger after the lapse of the first predetermined time T1 from the kickdown detection point. Subsequently, Step 8 fully closes the bypass valve of the supercharger on the kickdown detection, and then fully opens the valve after the lapse of the second predetermined time T2 longer than the first time T1 from the kickdown detection point.
