Title:
MECHANISM FOR ADJUSTING SHAFT MOVEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5892321
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
The mechanism joins a chair base 12 to a seat which is affixed to brackets 96 and 100. It comprises first and second hollow tubes 42, 44, which are interlocked at right-angles to each other by a clamp 46. The first tube 42 is rotatably mounted in apertures 30, 32 in two braces 26, 28 extending from a support 20 affixed to the base 12. The tube 42 abuts a hollow tube segment 60, which is affixed to one of the braces 26. Likewise, the second tube 44 is rotatably mounted in apertures, one of which is shown as 102, in brackets 96, 100. The tube 44 abuts a hollow tube segment 80 which is affixed to one of the brackets 96. The tubes 42, 44 are constrained from rotation by torsion bars 64, 86 which extend inside the tubes and tube segments 60, 80 and are connected to the free ends 68, 88 of the tubes and the free ends 66, 90 of the tube segments. Thus movement of the seat and base of the chair relative to one another is allowed in all axes of movement, but is restrained.
