Title:
MEDICAL TREATMENT DEVICE FOR OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA, AND MEDICAL TREATMENT DEVICE FOR DETECTING OF AROUSAL EVENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3684514
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable patients to sleep, keeping an activated automatic apnea treatment device operated, by bursts of electrical stimulation in response to sensed inspiration by detecting patients inhaling and by diminishing the strength of the stimulation by detecting patients awakening.
SOLUTION: When breathing transducer 60 transmits wave shape information to transmitter/controller 55, transmitter/controller 55 transmits stimulus pulse to stimulate patient's muscle through antenna/electrode system 65. Receiving antenna, lead, and electrode implanted surgically is connected by high frequency to outside transmitting antenna attached to transmitter/controller 55 and is provided with programmer 70. Sine the peak of inhaling is obviously higher than the maximum amplitude of inhaling when obstructive apnea being, synchronized stimulus to upper respiratory tract muscle keeping airway open during inhaling prevents increased breathing.
