PURPOSE: To provide a novel hydrazine deriv. which is effective for the suppression of the protease or retroviruses and more particularly protease aspartate and is used for the treatment of the diseases induced by the retroviruses.
CONSTITUTION: A compd. of formula I (R1 and R2 are each H, acyl, alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, heterocyclic group, sulfo, solfonyl, sulfamoyl or phosphoryl; R2 and R8 are each H, R1 or R9; R1 and R2, R8 and R9 each form heterocycles together with N to which they are bonded; R3 and R4 are each H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, heterocyclic group, alkenyl, or together form alkylene, alkylidene, etc.; R5 is OH; R6 is H; R5 and R6 together form O; R7 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, heterocyclic group or alkenyl); for example, phenylacetyl-(L)- Val-[PheNWPhe]←(N-phenylacetyl-(L)-Val). This compd. is obtd. by bringing the hydrazine deriv. of formula II and the compd. of formula III into reaction.
