Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound, having inhibitary activity against a testosterone 5α-reductase and useful for e.g. treating, prostatic hypertrophy, prostatic cancer, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula I [R1 to R8 are H or substituent group; X1 is O, S(O)m [(m) is 0-2], NR9 (R9 is H or lower alkyl), lower alkylene, etc.; R is H, substituent group, etc.], e.g. 4-(4-isopropylphenoxy)benzoic acid. Furthermore, the compound of formula I is obtained by hydrolyzing a compound of formula II.
