Abstract:

To provide a means for detecting non-A non-B hepatitis virus.

The polypeptide contains a sequence of at least ten consecutive amino acids and satisfies the requirements that (1) the sequence consisting of at least ten consecutive amino acids has at least one site and the site is bondable with an antibody against hepatitis C virus in the sequence consisting of the sequence of at least ten consecutive amino acids and in the above polypeptide and (2) the sequence of at least ten consecutive amino acids has a ≥80% homology to the sequence of at least ten consecutive amino acids derived from the amino acid sequence disclosed in the specification of the present invention. The polypeptide is not an arbitrary sequence of at least ten consecutive amino acids obtained from the above amino acid sequence.
