To provide a medicine name checking apparatus which can easily confirm a medicine name ordered by a prescription and a medicine name checking program.

The medicine name checking apparatus includes a medicine name master 102 wherein two or more medicine names are stored, a similar medicine name master 103 wherein the individual medicine names and the resembling similar medicine names are made to correspond each other and stored, a medicine name input section 104 to input the medicine name corresponding to an operation, a medicine name searching section 105 to search the medicine name master 102 on the basis of the medicine name input by the medicine name input section 104, a similar medicine name extracting section 106 to extract the similar medicine name corresponding to the medicine name searched by the medicine name searching section 105 from the similar medicine name master 103, and a medicine name display section 107 which makes the medicine name searched by the medicine name searching section 105 and the similar medicine name extracted by the similar medicine name extracting section 106 correspond each other to display on a screen.
