Abstract:
To control a rolled medium and a medium conveyance amount by automatically varying tension applied to the rolled medium according to the remaining amount of the rolled medium without any rise in cost.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a medium conveying device that comprises: a medium payoff part, such as a paper feed part 8, which holds a rolled medium, such as roll media 1 formed by winding long-sized media 1a, so that the medium can be paid off from the rolled medium; a conveying member, such as a conveyor roller 2, which rotates to convey the medium paid off from the medium payoff part in a medium conveying direction such as a media conveying direction MX; a medium take-up part, such as a paper discharge part 6, which takes up the medium being conveyed; and a conveyance amount control mechanism, such as a conveyance amount control mechanism 9, which is provided at the medium payoff part and controls the conveyance amount of the medium, in which the conveyance amount control mechanism varies a speed reduction ratio according to the remaining amount of the rolled medium such as the remaining amount of roll media 1 calculated by rolled medium remaining amount detecting means including a CPU 111 detecting the remaining amount of the rolled medium held by the medium payoff part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
