A medium loading apparatus includes: supporting units that are attached to both ends of roll paper; a loading part that is loaded with the roll paper to which the supporting units are attached; and a rotational force transfer part 55 that is arranged on the loading part to be opposed to a shaft rotating member constituting the supporting unit in the axial line direction of the roll paper and transfers a rotational force of a motor 59 to the shaft rotating member. A rotational force transmission part 55 includes: a first shaft member 61 to which the torque of the motor 59 is transmitted; a rotation support member 62 that is supported by the first shaft member 61 in an integrated rotatable manner in a state that a rotation shaft line is variable; a second shaft member 80 that is supported by the rotation support member 62 in an integrated rotatable manner, and composed movably between a transmission position to transmit the torque by engaging a shaft rotary member and a non-transmission position that alienates from the shaft rotary member and does not transmit the torque.
