Abstract:

To provide an accurate and inexpensive apparatus for judging the quantity of media in a medium input device.

A medium parameter generating apparatus is equipped with a first electrode 13, a second electrode 14 arranged opposite to the first electrode 13 and the measuring circuit 15 connected to the first and second electrodes 13, 14 and constituted so as to generate a first parameter related to the quantity of media 11 (e.g.; printing media) on the basis of the first characteristics of the dielectric provided between the first and second electrodes 13, 14.
