Abstract:

PURPOSE: To supply melted meal including less impurities and to provide a more efficient melted metal retaining furnace.
CONSTITUTION: A retaining furnace body 10 is provided with a retaining bed to retain melted metal and also with a dirt removing means 40 into which ingot is supplied through an inlet, 30 and from which dirt such as oxides and the like is scratched out. A slope 1Oh is formed in a lower surface of a furnace ceiling wall 34 and the melted metal in the retaining bed is over the slope 10h. Further, a dipping type burner 20 to heat the melted metal is dipped in the melted metal. In addition, a stirring means 18 to separate impurities in the melted metal is also dipped in the melted metal, so that it may stir the melted metal to jet inactive gas out of its tip end, whereby hydrogen contained in the melted metal can be removed.
