Abstract:

To provide a melting and processing method of a long ingot which can stably manufacture the sound long ingot by applying a CCIM method.

In the first melting operation, a material to be melted is put into a first water-cooled copper crucible and melted to form a molten metal pool. Then a bottom part of the molten metal pool is pulled out to the outside of induction heating zone of a high frequency coil and solidified, and then downward move of the crucible bottom is stopped. In the first melting operation, the process, in which the material to be melted is charged and melted in the first water-cooled copper crucible and then pulled out to solidify the molten metal pool, is repeated several times. In the second melting operation, the long ingot obtained in the first melting operation is turned upside down and put into a second water-cooled copper crucible which has a larger inside diameter than the first water-cooled copper crucible, and then is melted and solidified.
