Title:
MELTING METHOD FOR IRON SCRAPS BASED ON SHAFT FURNACE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0674653
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To eliminate hanging of scraps formed in a furnace and promote melting of the scraps when melting iron scraps in a shaft furnace.

CONSTITUTION: In terms of a melting system which melts iron scraps in a shaft furnace mainly based on the combustion heat of carbonaceous or fuel gas, an electromagnetic induction coil is preliminarily installed in the furnace wall which is subjected to the generation of hanging in a furnace main body 9. When the iron scraps 1 charged into the furnace generate a hanging phenomenon, and fail to melt the scraps properly, electric power is supplied to the electromagnetic coil 5 so as to melt the scraps which have generated the hanging phenomenon with the electromagnetic heating, thereby eliminating the hanging. During routine operation, the electromagnetic induction coil 5 is suspended.
