To provide a new material having flexibility, gas barrier properties and water resistance in the technical fields of a packing material, a sealing material, an electric insulation material or the like, and to provide a new technique.
The film is a material using denatured clay as the main constituting component and: (1) composed of denatured clay and an additive; (2) comprises the denatured clay in the weight ratio of ≥70% to the total solid of the denatured clay; (3) has gas barrier properties and water vapor barrier properties; (4) has heat resistance; (5) has water resistance; (6) has mechanical strength utilizable as that of a self-supported film; and (7) can be film-formed on each surface of metals, plastics, rubber, paper or the like. According to this invention, the material composed of a denatured clay film in which denatured clay grains are highly oriented, and which has excellent heat resistance, flexibility, gas barrier properties, water vapor barrier properties and high water resistance can be provided.
