Abstract:
To provide a mercury discharge device for introducing a small amount of mercury into a fluorescent lamp accurately and with reproducibility, without requiring addition of a second component.
The mercury discharge device to introduce a small amount of mercury into a fluorescent lamp is formed of a metallic container, that at least houses a powder of a mercury discharge compound selected from among an intermetallic compounds TixZryHgz of which x and y are in the range 0-13, the total (x+y) in the range 3-13, and z 1 or 2, and can hold the powder particles of the mercury discharge compound, although it is not closed completely. The mercury discharge device is formed by bending a metal sheet.
