To provide a necessary reinforcing functions of the ground during a specified period, by using a fiber or a resin having a gradually decomposing property and a specified physical property in a natural environmental condition, in a mesh sheet having a specified shape for civil engineering works.
In a mesh sheet used for the purpose of reinforcement of the ground, a fiber and/or a resin having a gradually decomposing property in a natural condition is used as a woven material or a formed sheet. A resin having a biodegradable property, polyolefin resin mixed with starch for instance, is used as such a material. This material is selected to have physical properties as follows; the tensile strength is 2-20ton/m in the lengthwise direction and 1-15ton/m in the breadthwise direction, the creep elongation is and 0-12% under the condition of 40% loed of the maximum lengthwise and breadthwise tensile forces, and the retaining ratio of strength at two years elapsed after installation in the ground is 0-15%. Since this material is gradually decomposed after the ground is stabilized, useless works are eliminated in the underground works thereafter.
