Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a mesh size variable screen capable of rapidly altering the mean particle size of coke lumps in matching relation to the state of a furnace.

CONSTITUTION: A mesh size variable screen for screening granular and lumpy matter having screen openings formed thereto by arranging a large number of screen rods side by side so as to provide intervals therebetween consists of screen rods 12 having an oval cross section and supported at both ends thereof by shafts and revolving means revolving the screen rods 12 around the axes thereof. One of the revolving means consists of the pinions 14 provided to the end parts of the screen rods 12 and the rack 15 arranged so as to be movable in the direction becoming right-angled to the axial direction of the screen rods 12. Therefore, the dimension of screen openings can be continuously and mechanically altered and the particle size of coke can be altered at any time corresponding to the change of the state of a blast furnace and the state of the furnace can be restored within a short time.
