PURPOSE: To obtain a metal carrier which is usable under conditions of repeated high and low temperatures by bonding an outer cylinder of ferritic stainless steel to the outside of a honeycomb structure having a laminated construction made up of flat plates and corrugated plates of the same material as the cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: To provide a metal carrier which is used at high temperature in exhaust air purification, etc., flat plates 2 and corrugated plates 3 made of ferritic stainless steel are superposed alternately to form a laminated body, which is wound into a roll like-shape to form a honeycomb structure 1. And then an outer cylinder 4 made of the same material is provided on the outside of the honeycomb structure 1 to be bonded to each other with nickel solder. As a result, even if the structure is subjected repeatedly to large temperature differences, neither separation nor crack occurs, resulting in an improved high- temperature durability.
