Title:
METAL CATALYST CARRIER FOR ELECTRIC HEATING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3236393
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To ensure that the end surface can be connected in a fresh foil state and air can be allowed to pass through the connected part only by providing a spacer with a narrower width than the axial length of a carrier between paired foils at a position where the paired foils are connected, and connecting the paired foils, in the subject catalyst carrier for purification of exhaust gas from an automotive internal combustion engine.
CONSTITUTION: A corrugated foil 11 and a plair foil 12, both being of metal such as aluminum-containing stainless steel are welded using laser beam and the partially connected paired foils are wound around a core electrode. Further, a spacer 19 with an unoxidized surface is rolled into parts corresponding to the inner and outer peripheral arts of a winding form. The spacer 19 is not rolled into a part which constitutes the intermediate part of the winding form. That is, the width of the spacer 19 is smaller than the axial length of the paired foils and is rolled into the upstream lateral end part in exhaust gas flow direction.
