Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the complex for optical storage medium of data or the like which shows spin transition with thermal excitation, contains an optical isomerizing double-bond, is bonded to a ligand atom by π electron system, and which converts a spin state of a metal into a high spin state by external electromagnetic energy.

CONSTITUTION: The objective ligand/transition metal complex which shows spin transition with thermal excitation, contains α-unsaturated chains having ≥1 optical isomerizing property particularly cis-trans isomerizing property of ≥1 ligand, is bonded by the double-bond to a ligand atom by π electron system, is optionally bonded by ≥1 the anion radicals to central matallic ion and converts a spin state of a metal into a high spin state by applying external electromagnetic energy is obtained by adding a FeSO4.7H2O solution to a KNCS methanol solution, filtering the deposited precipitates, adding the resulting Fe(NCS)2 solution to a methanol water suspension of trans-4-styrylpiridine at room temp., reacting by stirring for 4 hours at room temp. and filtering and drying the appearing colored precipitates.
