PURPOSE: To obtain metal fiber pellet which is excellent in volumetric property, stability and continuity by a method wherein chopped strands of metal fiber are coated with synthetic resin and kneaded in order to give electrical conductivity to plastic material.
CONSTITUTION: 100W10,000 yarns of metal fiber consisting in bundling 100W 100,000 filaments of 1W20μm in diameter are twisted. Said bundle of metal fiber is coated with resin by an extruder or by being dipped in molten resin. The thickness of coating is 0.01W10mm. After coating, the bundle is cut to be pelletized. In the treatment as described above, the bulk specific gravity of the pellet is nearly equal to that of ordinary synthetic resin. In addition, because the surface of the pellet is covered with synthetic resin, the form of the pellet is nearly cubic, resulting in eliminating the probability of blocking.
