Title:
METAL HALIDE LAMP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3271295
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the expansion of a luminous tube, and ensure the long service life of a metal halide lamp used in the form of only the luminous tube without any outer tube.
CONSTITUTION: The section 1b of a quartz luminous tube 1 where an insulation and reflector film 5 is applied, is formed so as to have inner surface tapered nearly straight toward a sealed section at one side. The thickness of the section 1b applied with the film 5 is made thicker than the other section 1a of the tube 1. In addition, electrodes 2 and 2' are laid at both ends of the tube 1 and rare earth metal halogen compound DyI3-NdI3-CsI, HgI2, Hg and Ar are sealed into the tube 1, thereby constituting a metal halide lamp.
