To provide a metal mask suitable for a thick film screen printing and to provide a method for manufacturing a thin type battery by using the metal mask.
The metal mask 15 comprises a printing pattern 60 in which a paste filling window 14 is formed, and a thin mask holder 61 for surrounding the pattern 60. A positioning pin 23 is pressed to a stationary pin inserting hole 15a formed at the holder 61, and the mask 15 is fixed to a frame member 20 for manufacturing the battery. In this case, a tensile force for maintaining a spreading state of the pattern 60 is imparted to the pattern 60 by the holder 61. A sheet member 1 in which a first active substance 5 in shape interposed between an electrode plate 7 and a separator 9 is filled in an active substance filling chamber 2 is fixed to the member 20. The mask 15 and the member 20 are clamped with each other so that a paste filling window 14 is disposed on a surface of the separator 9. A second electrode active substance 6 is filled in the window 14 with a squeegee 48.
