PURPOSE: To increase heating efficiency and reduce operating cost as well as installation space, by a method wherein the title metal melting device is provided with a plurality of crucibles arranged in a high-frequency heating coil in up-and-down directions and a supporting means supporting these crucibles.
CONSTITUTION: A crucible 3, which has received a predetermined amount of metal grains by a crucible transfer device B, is put on the other crucible 3, positioned at the uppermost position among the crucibles 3,... arranged in a heating coil 1. The heating coil 1 is supplied with a high-frequency power source while the magnetic field of the heat coil 1 heats and melts the metal grains in the crucibles 3,.... Next, a crucible supporting device 4 is descended by a predetermined distance and, thereafter, the crucible holding device A is advanced to support the second crucible 3 from the lowest one. Subsequently, the crucible at the lowermost position is separated from the second crucible 3 from the lowest crucible and, thereafter, the crucible 3 at the lowermost position is held by a crucible transfer device B to transfer the crucible 3 onto a mold E. Next, the crucible supporting device 4 is elevated to support the lower surface of the crucible 3 at the lowermost position and, thereafter, the crucible holding device A is retreated. Subsequently, the crucible supporting device 4 is elevated to move the crucibles 3,... upward and position the crucible 3 at the lowermost position into the heating coil.
