To provide a low-cost and efficient melting furnace for a medium-size business which can modify an upper part of the material supply tower of a currently possessed metal melting furnace and effectively use waste heat energy.
In the existing metal melting furnace having a material supply tower 3 with a flue 4 therein, a melting chamber 30, and a storage chamber 40, a vertical portion of the material supply tower 3 is cut into the upper part and the lower part. In the metal melting furnace 1, the upper part which includes a preheating chamber 5 having a material infusion aperture 8 with an openable/closable lid 9 in place of the separated upper part and a fume extraction cylinder 13 is formed in a way that the upper part is connected with the remaining lower part.
