PURPOSE: To obtain a metal plate for decoration with extremely high design by using a contrast between the surface gloss of stainless steel and a stained glass layer.
CONSTITUTION: Through holes 13, 14 are formed in a specified pattern on a stainless steel foil 10 using etching technique or press molding technique. First, frits 30, 3l which develop a color corresponding to the pattern are filled in the through holes 13, 14, and the stainless steel foil 10 sandwiched between a punch 21 and a lower die 22 is hot-pressed. The frits are baked by a hot press process to generate a stained glass layer in the through holes 13, 14. The stainless steel foil 10 can be molded to a specified shape during the hot press process. Subsequently, a unique beautiful appearance is provided to a finished product by a reflecting light and a transmitting light from the stained glass layer as well as the surface gloss of the stainless steel foil.
