Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the refining efficiency of a metal. SOLUTION: A molten metal 2 is solidified from one direction by arranging a conductor coil 4 on the outer peripheral part of a cylindrical vessel 1 housing the molten metal 2 and cooling the lower end part of the vessel while passing AC current through the conductor coil 4. The molten metal 2 is stirred with electromagnetic induction by passing AC current through the conductor coil 4 at the time of progressing the re-crystallization to suppress the increasing rate of impurity concentration which is generated on solid/liquid boundary surface, and as a result, the solidifying rate is increased and high purity metal is manufactured with high efficiency.
