PURPOSE: To provide a metallic carrier which is used as a carrier, etc., of a catalyst for cleaning an exhaust gas from various kinds of internal combustion engines for car, boiler and generator, etc., and having a heat holding effect, which is easily producible and good in a dimentional precision of an outside diameter.

CONSTITUTION: A metallic thin plate 6 having ≥0.5mm and ≤1.5mm thickness is wrapped at least twice in parallel to a vent hole 8 at an outer periphery of a honeycomb body 1 constituted by aggregating the vent hole 8 surrounded with a wall surface 7 of a metallic foil, and an edge part of the outer periphery of the metallic thin plate 6 is jointed. An exhaust gas cleaning performance is improved by the heat holding effect at the time of restart after the engine stoppage.
