PURPOSE: To form a metallic coating film structure enhanced in saturation and having a three-dimensional feeling by laminating two or more transparent or colored metallic coating film layers containing bright materials different in kind and having different particle sizes to the surface of an object to be coated.
CONSTITUTION: Color paint (for the first layer) is applied to the surface of an object 4 to be coated in a thickness of about 15-40μm to form a solid color coating film layer 1 and metallic paint (for the second layer) is applied on the coating film layer 1 in a thickness of about 10-40μm by wet-on-wet coating to form a metallic coating film layer 2. Further, metallic paint (for the third layer) is applied to the coating film layer 2 to a thickness of about 20-40μm directly by wet-on-wet coating or after the coating film layer 2 is dried under heating to form a metallic film layer 3 and the coated material is subsequently cured under heating to obtain a metallic coating film structure showing two- stage brightness and having a three-dimensional feeling.
