PURPOSE: To produce a metallic composite material which is uniform in faying surfaces and has high joining strength by enagaging the faying surfaces of soft and hard metallic members to a geometrical shape with each other, heating the same to a predetermined temp. and pressure-welding the faying surfaces.
CONSTITUTION: For example, a flat square hard metal bar 1 is engaged into the hollow groove 2a of a channel-shaped soft metal member 2. Next, these engaged blank materials are heated to a predetermined temp., and their faying surfaces are pressure-welded by rolls or a press. During rolling of the engaged blank materials, both materials will not shift to the right and left and this enables rolling work to be easily accomplished and makes it possible to produce the metallic composite material 3 having high joining strength.
