To provide a coated article with a metallic film which is formed on a high molecular article by using a combination of metal vapor deposition and ion irradiation and has sufficiently good adhesion to the article and also to provide the manufacture of the coated article.
This coated article has a metallic film F that is formed on an article S consisting of a high molecular material by using a combination of metal vapor deposition and inert gas ion irradiation, and also a mixed layer M that is formed at the interface between the articles S and the metallic film F and comprises the constituent atoms of both the article S and metallic film F and further has a 50 to 200 thickness. Alternatively, this coated article has a metallic film F that is formed on an article S consisting of a high molecular material by using a combination of metal vapor deposition and gaseous nitrogen ion irradiation, and also a mixed layer M that is formed at the interface between the article S and the metallic film F and comprises the constituent atoms of both the article S and metallic film F and further has a 200 to 1,000 thickness.
