To provide a metallic hollow O-ring capable of easily acquiring necessary stress for airtightness, having favorable sealability, and capable of repeated use.
This O-ring has an opening part 11 consecutive in a circumferential direction, and comprises a metallic covering 12 consecutive in the circumferential direction having a roughly C-shaped cross section, and a metallic elastic member 13 housed inside this metallic covering 12 and improving the elasticity of this metallic covering 12. In such a case, the metallic elastic member 13 is composed of a shape memory alloy, and after being attached to a sealing portion of a seal door or a pipe joint part or the like and clampingly deformed, the sealing force is increased by heating the metallic elastic member 13 by feeding electricity to it and restoring it to it's original shape.
