This catalyst, for ethylene and/or α-olefin polymn., is obtd. by bringing a metallocene complex represented by the formula (wherein M is Ti, Zr, or Hf; A' and A'' are each an org, group having η5-cyclopentatienyl anion coordinated with M; R' and R'' are each are anionic group selected from among a hydride, a halide, an alkyl, an alkylsilytl, a cycloalkyl, an aryl, an alkoxy, a thioalkoxy, a dialkylamido, and an alkylsilyamido groups, and B is an unsatd. divalent org, group bonded to two methylene groups, the distance between the metylene groups being lower than 3.5) into contact with a cocatalyst comprising an org. deriv, of a metal selected from among B, Al, Ga, and Sn.
