PURPOSE: To obtain a novel silyl bridged sandwich bonded metallocene comprising a specific metal and dialkyl-fluorenyl-cyclopentadienylsilane, for a polymerization catalyst of olefins, capable of providing a syndiotactic polymer.
CONSTITUTION: A novel silyl bridged sandwich bonded metallocene, comprising an organic ligand having a IVB group metal of the periodic table and the formula, (wherein Z and Z' differ with each other, Z is an unsubstituted fluorenyl group, or a symmetrically substituted fluorenyl group; Z' is an unsubstituted cyclopentadienyl group, a symmetrically substituted pentadienyl group, or Z; and R' is a 1-20C organic group), useful for an olefin polymerization catalyst, or the like, for providing a syndiotactic polymer, [such as; dimethylsilyl (fluorenyl) (cyclopentadienyl) zirconium dichloride, or the like]. The compound is obtained by reacting a compound represented by the formula with zirconium chloride, or the like in a solvent.
