Title:
METALLURGICAL APPARATUS WITH HEAT RADIATION RESTRAINING COVER AND STEEL TAPPING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH1053806
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To restrain the heat radiation to opening part and the temp. lowering of molten steel in a furnace during steel tapping by tapping the molten steel from a steel tapping hole in a furnace bottom after closing the opening part at the upper part of the furnace body with a cover, at the time of tapping the molten steel in a metallurgical apparatus.

In this metallurgical apparatus, after completing refining, a recovery hood 12 for exhaust gas and a lance 8 are elevated and the opening part 2 of a converter 1 is closed with the heat radiation restraining cover 6 by working an opening/ closing drive means 7. Thereafter, a cover 9 of the steel tapping hole 5 is opened to start the tapping of molten steel. The heat radiation is prevented during this operation. At the time of completing the steel tapping, the heat radiation restraining cover 6 is shifted to a waiting position by working the opening/closing drive means 7. Successively, after discharging remained slag in the furnace by tilting the converter 1, the converter 1 is returned back to the vertical position. Further, heat resistant granular material 13 is carried with the air stream and filled into the steel tapping hole 5. Then, molten iron and scrap, etc., for the following refining are discharged into the converter 1.
